Richard is currently Swordmaster on EAGLE OF THE NINTH, directed by Kevin MacDonald. Earlier in the year he completed work on GULLIVER’S TRAVELS, starring Jack Black, prior to that he worked on SHERLOCK HOLMES, directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. SHERLOCK is due for release on December 25th 2009.


Also due for release in 2009 is SOLOMON KANE, starring James Purefoy, on which he was Swordmaster.
Previous work includes Fight Arranger on THE DARK KNIGHT, which won the 2009 SAG Award for best movie stunt ensemble and Best Fight at the 2009 Taurus Stunt Awards.
He was also Swordmaster on STARDUST, THE LAST LEGION, FAINTHEART, DRONA and fight Arranger on THE GOLDEN COMPASS. He was Fight/Combat consultant on FABLE 2, the follow-up to the best selling X-Box game FABLE .
Richard’s first major film was TROY, on which served as Swordmaster. His responsibilities involved developing the fighting styles of the principal characters and fight choreography for the one-on-one fights. The fights received critical acclaim, particularly the Achilles v Hector duel (Brad Pitt & Eric Bana), which was nominated in the Best Fight category for both the MTV Movie Awards and the Taurus Stunt Awards 2005.


Richard has extensive experience providing fight training for actors to perform fights with a multiplicity of weapons and serves as 'Master-at-Arms' to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

His theatre experience is wide-ranging and he has staged fights for The Royal National Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Abbey & Peacock Theatres (The National Theatre of Ireland), The Old Vic, Theatre Royal Haymarket, Druid Theatre Company, Birmingham Repertory Theatre, The Edinburgh International Festival, Cheek by Jowl, English National Opera, York Theatre Royal, Bristol Old Vic, The Ludlow Festival, Colchester Mercury, Nottingham Playhouse, Wolsey Ipswich, Salisbury Playhouse, Watford Palace and the Sheffield Crucible. His work has been seen in Canada, Spain, Australia, Japan, France, Germany, Eire, China and Brazil.
